GeneSight testing

Questions about how genetics may inform medication decisions? Talk with your clinician about whether pharmacogenomic testing may be useful in your care.

What the test can tell you

GeneSight examines selected genetic differences that may affect how your body processes certain psychiatric medications. A prescribing clinician reviews the report alongside your symptoms, treatment history, other medicines, and preferences.

What it cannot tell you

It does not diagnose a mental health condition or identify a medication that is guaranteed to work. It does not replace a clinical evaluation, follow-up, or careful monitoring. Results alone should not be used to stop or change a medication.

Before deciding

Ask your clinician what question the test might help answer, how results could affect the treatment plan, and what its limitations are. Confirm insurance coverage and any expected out-of-pocket cost with the testing company before proceeding.
